Nippon Steel Stainless Steel continues to raise stainless steel contract prices for May 2022

On May 12, Nippon Steel Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. announced a comprehensive increase in the price of stainless steel contracts signed in May 2022. In particular, prices for SUS304 nickel series cold-rolled sheet and plate rose by JPY80,000/t (USD624/t), of which the base price remained unchanged and only the alloy surcharge was increased; prices for SUS430 chrome series cold-rolled sheet rose by JPY25,000/t (USD195/t), including an increase of JPY10,000/t (USD78/t) and JPY15,000/t (USD117/t) respectively for base price and alloy surcharge; This is the seventh consecutive monthly price increase for its nickel series products and second consecutive monthly price increase for its chrome series products. Since June 2020 when prices began to move up, price increases for nickel series products already totaled JPY345,000/t (USD2,691/t), while price increases for its chrome series products totaled JPY115,000/t (USD897/t) since March 2021.
