U.S. makes final injury determination on silicon metal

On July 28, 2021, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) voted to make an affirmative final injury determination on silicon metal imported from Malaysia. ITC determined that the U.S. domestic industry is materially injured by reason of imports of the products involved. Five ITC members voted in the affirmative. As a result of ITC's affirmative determination, the U.S. Department of Commerce will issue an anti-dumping duty order on imports of these products from Malaysia with the tax codes of 2804.69.1000 and 2804.69.5000.

On July 21, 2021, in response to the application submitted by two American enterprises on June 30, 2020, the Department of Commerce launched anti-dumping investigation on silicon metal originating in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland and Malaysia and a countervailing investigation on metal silicon imported from Kazakhstan. On June 17, 2021, the Department of Commerce made a positive final anti-dumping ruling on silicon metal imported from Malaysia.
