HBIS Group and BHP join hands in "carbon reduction"

On March 5th, HBIS Group and BHP conducted video exchanges on topics such as carbon reduction and climate change, as well as further strengthening cooperation between the two sides in low-carbon metallurgy and other fields. At the meeting, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in jointly addressing climate change.

According to the cooperation memorandum of understanding, BHP plans to invest USD15 million in the next three years to jointly study and explore greenhouse gas emission reduction technologies and paths with HBIS, working together in three key areas including technology of DRI by hydrogen, steel slag processing and recycling technology, and improvement in the utilization rate of iron lump ore.

It is reported that BHP announced a climate investment plan totaling USD400 million in 2019. The strategic cooperation with HBIS for now is part of the investment plan.
