Coal India plans to increase production to meet power industry's demand

On January 23, the Indian state-owned enterprise Coal India Ltd. stated that the company was fully prepared to increase production to meet the increasing coal demand in the power industry.

As of January 22, Indian single-day electricity demand reached 187,300 megawatts, surpassing the previous record of 185,800 megawatts and setting a record high. On that day, Indian coal-fired power generation capacity rose to 3.072 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of nearly 10% within the day.

"Coal India is fully prepared to increase coal supply for the power industry. Currently, the company's pithead inventory is close to 63 million tons," Coal India said in an announcement.

Indian coal-fired power generation volume accounts for nearly 67% of the country's total power generation volume. Coal India has always been committed to increasing coal production and improving coal supply to coal-fired power plants.
