According to Henan government, by the end of 2020 the average single-well coal production capacity in Henan increased from around 400,000/year to around 770,000/year.

Since 2016 when Henan began to implement the work of reducing excessive coal production capacity, 242 coal mines in Henan with a total production capacity of 68.20 million tons were shut down, excelling the goal of 62.54 million tons of the local Thirteenth Five-year Plan by 9%.

In 2020, 11 coal mines in Henan with a total production capacity of 4.86 million tons were shut down, excelling the annual goal of 2.55 million tons by 91%.
