News from Hainan Industry and Information Work Video and Telephone Conference indicated that Hainan aims to finish the promotion task of 250,000 new energy vehicles in 2021.

Hainan held the 2020 World New Energy Vehicle Conference last year in order to promote the application of new energy vehicles, establish International Professor Consultation Committee of New Energy Vehicle Industry in Hainan and formulate the provincial new energy vehicle promotion center. The province also launched activities to make new energy vehicles go to countryside and formulated new energy vehicle consumption incentive policies, based on which the government in Haikou, Wenchang, Changjiang, Qiongzhong and Baisha supplied more subsidies.

Last year, Hainan completed the 2020 new energy vehicle promotion task four months ahead of the schedule. The new energy vehicle ownership in Hainan was 64,000 in 2020, accounting for approximately 4.2% of the total vehicle ownership and being about 2.4 percentage points higher than the average level nationwide.
