Korea Zinc exits selenium granule market

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Jan 21 - Korea Zinc Co., a major selenium granule 99.95%min producer in South Korea before 2019, exited the market at the end of 2020 due to low profit, according to a source from the company.

"We halted selenium granule 99.95%min production at the end of 2019 due to thin margins. We sold out our 50t of stocks within 2020 and exited the market at the end of 2020," said the source.

Established in 1974, Korea Zinc Co. owns an annual production capacity of 100t of selenium granule 99.95%min. They mainly offered their selenium granule 99.95%min to clients from glass coloring industry and produced about 50t of the material in 2019 before they halted production.

Current selenium granule 99.95%min mainstream prices in South Korean market hover at USD5.6-6.1/lb FOB South Korea, in line with one week ago.
