Preliminary statistics released by the US Department of Commerce showed that US steel imports rose by 18.9% from September to 13.63 million tons in October 2020, but down by 31.9% compared to the corresponding period last year. In terms of value, US steel imports totaled USD1.17 billion in October, while the amount was USD1.05 billion in September and USD1.79 billion in October 2019.

The main sources of US steel imports in October were Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Brazil and Japan.
