Shandong eliminates 60.2 million tons of excess coal capacity since 13th Five-Year Plan

It was learned from the press conference held by the Information Office of the Shandong Provincial Government that Shandong vigorously implemented policies and measures to reduce coal production capacity, and achieved remarkable results. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, Shandong has r eliminated a total of 60.2 million tons of excess coal capacity, and will resolutely complete the 13th Five-Year Plan target of 64.6 million tons of excess coal capacity before the end of this year.

By vigorously implementing capacity reduction in Shandong, the structure of the coal industry has been continuously optimized. In 2016, all coal mines with less than 300,000 tons were closed, and the goal of shutting down coal mines with less than 150,000 tons was completed ahead of schedule. The distribution of coal production becomes more concentrated, with a net reduction in production capacity and a significant increase in the scale of single wells. At present, there are 99 production mines in the province, with an approved production capacity of 132 million tons per year, and an average single well scale of 1.33 million tons per year, an increase of 45% over 2015. The province's coal output has remained above 100 million tons for many years.
