AGB2A to resume bauxite exports

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 Oct 20 - AGB2A, a new big bauxite producer in Guinea, is scheduled to restart bauxite exports from early November, targeting around 200,000t to China, the third shipment after the second one in August, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.

"We plan to export the third shipment of bauxite with a volume of around 200,000t to China in the first week of November, and the contract negotiation has been finished," said the source, who did not export bauxite during September and October because of the rainy season. They mainly produce high grade bauxite Al2O3 48.5%min SiO2 3%max and hold around 400,000t in stock now.

They would produce around 200,000t of bauxite in October and the volume would reach around 400,000t in November, based on the annual production capacity of 5 million tons. Starting bauxite production in the middle of this year, they target around 1.5 million tons in 2020 and around 5 million tons in 2021. The producer has two bauxite mining areas in Guinea with the total reserves at around 240 million tons.

Present mainstream prices for Guinean bauxite Al2O3 45%min SiO2 3%max keep at USD45-46/dt CIF China, which would keep stable in the coming two weeks. Transactions would become active from November after the presidential election in Guinea.
