The Department of Industry and Information Technology of Jilin announced that the National Development and Reform Commission decided to increase coal import quota in Jilin by 5 million tons from October to the end this year.

According to the National Development and Reform Commission, the newly-added quota aims at ensuring the coal supply for power generation and heating in winter, so priority should be given to power generation and heating companies in Jilin so as to ensure the heating for people in winter.

In order to make sure that the newly-added quota play its role, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Jilin has made a quota allocation plan for major power generation and heating companies. The announcement said that customs should sort out the thermal coal in urgent need of clearance at ports, and release the goods according to plan as quickly as possible.
