On September 25, 2020, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat issued announcement No. 64 of 2020 in the Federal Government Gazette, which initiated the third sunset review investigation on magnesium ingot originated in China at the application of Brazilian enterprises. The tax codes of the products involved were 8104.11.00 and 8104.19.00. The dumping investigation period of this case is from April 2019 to March 2020, and the injury investigation period is from April 2015 to March 2020.

On April 29, 2003, Brazil initiated an anti-dumping investigation on magnesium ingot originating in China. On October 11, 2004, Brazil made an affirmative final anti-dumping judgment on the case and imposed an anti-dumping duty of USD1.18/kg on the products involved in the case. On December 15, 2009, Brazil made the first sunset review final judgment on the magnesium ingot originated from China, and decided to continue to impose an anti-dumping duty of USD1.18/kg on magnesium ingot with a magnesium content of more than 99.8%. On September 25, 2015, Brazil extended the period of anti-dumping duty on Chinese magnesium ingot for the second time.
